Meaning of Brothers and Sisters Group in AD

I was on msn with WS and we decided to find out more about the terms used in Brother and Sister group. Kinda interesting to know that the term "brother" and "sister" group does not exist! Cos they have exact terms and title to each role. Some of the interesting facts from wikipedia:

In North America, the bride might have several bridesmaids, but the Maid of Honor is the title and position held by the bride's chief attendant, typically her closest friend or sister. If married, the title Matron of Honor is used.

 

 

A bridesmaid is a girl or young woman who attends to the bride during or after a wedding or marriage ceremony. Traditionally, bridesmaids were chosen from unwed young women of marriageable age.
The Western bridesmaid tradition seems to have originated from later Roman law, which required ten witnesses at a wedding in order to outsmart evil spirits believed to attend marriage ceremonies. The bridesmaids and ushers dressed in identical clothing to the bride and groom, so that the evil spirits would not know who was getting married.
Commonly recited expressions about this member of the wedding party are "always a bridesmaid, but never a bride" and "thrice a bridesmaid, never a bride"-- an old charm that can be broken by being a bridesmaid seven times.

 

The best man is the name given to the chief male assistant to the bridegroom at a wedding. Usually the groom extends this honor to someone who is close to him, generally either a brother or his closest male friend. Alternatively, should one of the groom's male friends have been directly responsible for introducing the groom to his bride (or otherwise responsible for bringing them together), the honor of best man might be extended to him in gratitude.

 

 

In a North American/Australian or British wedding a groomsman or usher is one of the (usually) male attendants to the bridegroom in a wedding ceremony. Usually the groom selects his closest friends and/or relatives to serve as a groomsmen, and it is considered an honor to be selected.

The Flower Language

Settle the colour and flower theme for the AD.
If you happen to notice my DIY section. I have lilac rose wrist corsage and lilac ang bao box. Most of the items on the AD revolve around lilac aka purple. My sisters group will be dressed with partial purple or full purple. I wonder what will happen on the brother group facial expression if they are being ask to wear purple to match the ladies!!! Hahaha... I dun think that will happen. Guys hate anything that has a hint of pink.

AD hand bouquet:
Always have this idea of using calla lily for my hand bouquet. I would also like those "mao mao" feather too! But seems like feather dun goes well with calla lily. Feather would goes well with those "round" shape bouquet and calla lily is considered "long" stem bouquet. In the end decided that calla lily should be the centre of attaction, accompany by pink roses.

Pink Rose
As a symbol of grace and elegance, Pink Rose for that Perfect Happiness.

AD Banquet Floral:
Decided to go with something more lilac.

 

Lavander (Lilac) rose
With their fantastical appearance, lavender roses are a perfect symbol of enchantment that signified Love at First Sight.

White Eustoma also know as Lisianthus
There is no flower that is more evocative of summer than lisianthus.
Perfect for summer parties and weddings which will inject the season's sense of fun and relaxation. Its name literally means 'a good mouth' or less literally 'a pretty face', hence its natural affiliation to romance and weddings.

Lilac Hydrangea
Hydrangea means 'water barrel' and refers to the shape of the fruit after it has sprung open.

AD Banquet Floral for reception table, solemisation table and dinner tables :
Will be having the solemisation table / reception table and 2 vips tables decorated with table floral that revolve around these flowers. The chairs of the 2 vip tables will be decorated with gold sash and Lilac rose with waxflower.

The rest of the dinner tables will be decorated with mixed of red and champage rose petal with red tealight.

PRODUCTION FOR NJ WEDDING DINNER BY ICICLE MUSIC
Count down.... Less than 1 month to AD!

Last nite, met up with Richie, the lead for the production who is going to do the production for NJ wedding dinner. We get all excited as we run through the plans! Richie has already book for the sound system which will be set up before 2.30pm on the actual day.

After our last meet up, we exchange some funny ideas for the march in. And really appreciate Richie and Chan for taking time off to re-track some of the songs and music to achieve the best effects. I understand how time consuming and difficult it is to bring 2 different tracks to join seamlessly. Last nite, after hearing the preview of the tracking done by them, I am really touch by their effort!

The 1st march in will be lead in by the traditional wedding song we hear from olden days. I always wanted this song as part of the wedding songs list but worried that it will be kinda of funny. This time, its a special mix! The introduction of the traditional wedding song is being track into the romantic, 101 wedding "Say Yes" by Chage and Asuka. The 1st time I hear this song, I conclude that it will be the 1st march in song!

Richie has done some twist to the music for the 1st dish presentation. Instead of the usual "Be our Guest" song throughout. We would have the 1st portion which is a voice over from "Be our Guest" song and hype into the "Everlasting Love" to create that impact for the resturant crew to much in! Fabulous match!!!

Another tricky bit will be to merge the song for the 2nd march in. It comprise of "爱你无限" and "老鼠爱大米". One is a dance track and one is a remix track. Extremely difficult to track them together. Richie and Chan has done it!!!!

 

 

 

 

I have always wanted to have "爱你无限" in the wedding song list. This song has a special meaning. The origin of this song comes from the background of the love one has for their only one. The orginal singer is going to do a live version of this song!!! *more details of this song is found on www.iciclemusic.com under A.R.T.s

The original singer of "老鼠爱大米" is actually a guy singer call 杨臣刚 from China. Richie has the original version! Nick is going to surprise us with this song! Hopefully he dun go out of tune :P Hahaha..... Richie ask him to do some action with this song, and guess wat Nick reply .... "Action bei dek ar... No worries, I m good at it!" ***faint

The rest of the music comprise of Broadway to Jazz. I leave these selection on the good hand of Richie. And yes! Our Emcees for the nite. Vera and Kelvin. Thanks for the help! Vera is a very experience emcee...she will be doing the chinese version. Kelvin is a new bird... He will be doing the english portion and there is a part where he needed to say some chinese. That would be quite "entertaining".... Hahaha.. this is his virgin show! His past experience comprise of story telling to young kids...big big actions!  :P Hahaha... Dun worry, after this you will be well-trained!

Updates:
Both Nick and myself are very happy with our banquet program and have a great time! Its really a big effort and we are glad we go for it! The banquet program is the most memorable part of the entire AD. Its a kinda of joy which is unmeasurable by monterary and scale. Its a lifetime sweet memory we have created for ourselves!

Thanks to Richie and the entire crew of Icicle Music for making it a wonderful and touching nite for us! I could sense the satifaction of the success of the nite coming from Richie and the entire crew. Its the passion behind it that is greater than the sucess!

Fireworks Festival 2007

Got 2 tickets through Nick's office to Sat Fireworks Festival 2007. The one we went was performed by the China team. We arrived at the floating platform at about 7pm. There are quite a number of stalls that sell food and stuff. As we walk through the stalls, I saw 2 big duckies walk pass us. I wanted to take a photo with it and we realised that they have a stall and need to pay money for taking photo with them. So an idea struck us, I try to stand very near and Nick took the picture for me. Hahaha... After a while, we saw the 2 duckies moving off on parade again, alot of ppl were trying to take photo of them. We tried to take with them too...hahahha...

At 8.30pm, announcement were made for ppl to get into their seat. We bought a can of super expensive coke and proceed to our seat. We thought the fireworks will start at 9.00pm sharp. We could see a lot of ppl standing by the hotel window waiting for the event. There were 2 emcees trying to warm up the event, but they failed terribly...hahha cos ppl simple not interested in what they were talking. They tried to get the audiences to do a human wave, the response was bad too...hahhaha... At 9.15pm they had the "go fly kites" team flying their lighted small crafts, same as the one for national day. Finally after the kites thingy, the fireworks start! A lot of ppl were screaming and cheering. It started with playing with lighting effects, so many big lamps on the floating platform that turn here and there, changing colours. I guess fireworks must be very expensive. That's why they play with the cheaper option first.hahha...Finally! The fireworks here!!! Lots of colours! Even got shape of china flowers?!? Hahaha,.... but really spectacular!!! A full 15 min fireworks that joined by 3 different songs. It worth the tickets!!! 

 

 

Auntie & Donut

 

Yesterday on my way home, I shared a lift with this mother and daughter. I stepped into the lift after them. The daughter was in her uniform and I recognise them to be my neighbour dun know from which floor. I seldom say "hi" to neighbours.

The daughter is studying in some special school but she is very friendly, and say "hello auntie", I din catch it at first, but I knew she greeted me. So I also say "hi". The ger was giggling and answer back "Hello Auntie". I almost fainted! Do I look like a AUNTIE? But I dun want the mother to feel bad as her daughter was smiling and giggling, I feel that every child is special and they need not suffer from people weird eye sight. So I ask the daughter "U just finish school?" She nodded her head. Before she get out of the lift she say "bye bye" and I wave bye to her. I could sense that the mother cant wait to get out of the lift. Maybe we are not the mother, so we can judge how she feel. But one thing for sure, the daughter is very "real" and friendly. Something we should learn from her, something that is missing in this "barbie doll" aks "plastic" world.

 

End of the day, I m just a little upset that she call me Auntie instead of Jie jie. Maybe age is really catching up. When I told Nick about this little incident, I ask him "do i really look like auntie?" He pushed my face to the mirror and say "U ask the mirror loh". Damm evil lei....
In compensation, I eat up most of the donut he brought back from his office Batam trip ytd. Hahahah!

We had donut again today! Nick's cousin got it from the SG donut factory! Hahahaha...One shot we had many many donuts!

 

 

Porridge with carrot

I fell sick again... :(
Was sick just 2 weeks ago.... down with stupid backache from flu virus attacked...I thought I had recovered...so my ichy mouth start eating nonsense and yummy food...who knows...this time round, a serious fever attack! Just on the eve of national day...we planned to watch 881 after work...but I was feeling feverish b4 heading to the cinema after work. In the end we went home and my fever rose up to 37.6 degree...Nick even scold me for wrapping in my blanket that might cause the fever to get worse. In the end he use his Doc Tan Ice treatment! He used ice-wrapped towel to help bring down my temperature...I am too sick to think...hahah... but it does help :) I was too sick to think of food.

After my temperature cool down a bit, it was already 10 pm, no more food for me :( In the end I ask Nick to cook plain porridge for me...I just wanted to drink some plain porridge water. He ask me how to cook ... cos he only know how to cook maggi mee and egg....I give me a brief description on the steps,  and I go back to bed.... a while later he say its done.... I wonder how would the porridge turn out to be.... To my surprise...it was well done! ...he even add in a few strand of carrot! Hahaha... not bad ma... I thought his auntie help him with the cooking. But it was done solely by himself! Although I am sick, the plain porridge taste really well.... I even jokingly say he added some as ingredients..that's why so sweet lar....Hahaha... he say this is the 1st time he cooked for a ger.... he promise to cook me my favourite pork porridge next round. Hopefully my this lazy pig worm remember his promise...Hahaha.....

Today I am 90% recovered, so we managed to catch the 881! It was a funny, full of hokkien show! Well...at least the public holiday was not totally wasted.

No 1: Lots of nickname, real names.
I am known as Puroland in multiply, blogspot, forum...the name comes from the place where hellokitty, bad bad maru stay... I thought its a land where all friends live happily together. Hewy is my nick in msn, irc back then...cant rem where i got this nick. SL is my real name, which is known as Soolin or Red Forest cos my hanyu pingying name is "hong shuling". Family members call me "Ah Ling" or "Ling ling" --> which make my hair stand! Jerlynn is a name I gave to myself. It was original "Lynn" but I find it too common so I add a twist to it. This name lead to nickname like "Jelly" and "Jer"

No 2: Weird taste buds
I dun take chili but I like tom yam and curry. I hate "weak looking" vegetable like brinjal and ladyfinger and mangosteen.

No 3: Multiple personality
I have good imagination and can to the extend put myself into another role.  Stuffs I write in Multiple is very different from stuffs I write in my chinese blog www.puroland.blogspot.com

No 4: Same group of friends for 15 years
Recently when I was selecting some photos for montage, I realise I have a group of galfriends whom we have considered a "group" and know one another for 15 years! They appear practically in every piece of my photo from age 13. Although now each have our own committments but the "history" has kept us in a link.

No 5: Deep Thinker
Friends always comment I think a lot and think very deep into issues. Quite true...I have learn to be more "relax" over these few years.

No 6: Deeply influence by Qiao Yao ah yi
If you read my chinese blog, you will find that my thoughts in relationship is too ideal already. "One guy match one gal till death do us part" that kind of thinking....I think have to blame Auntie Qiao Yao... has been seeing her tv drama from young...
